Light through the Tree

I love this tree with all its moss decorated branches and while we were hiking, the light lit it up.

Jane, I just read your profile and you desire thoughtful critique. I’m with you on that score, we all get caught up in our own photos and need a dispassionate third eye to see what we can’t. As you say, thoughtful critique takes time and while I can’t promise to look at all your posts in such a way I will, from time to time, offer my thoughts and would really appreciate it if you could occasionally manage to reciprocate. I shall start with this image. I can right away see what drew you to this shot. Moss covered branches on an old tree are always appealing and the way the light is highlighting the moss is perfect. For me, the tree on the left is somewhat distracting. The light on it is not nearly as good and I feel the image would be stronger if you moved in closer to the tree on the right, or if that were not possible, take advantage of that 61 megapixel sensor and crop tightly in post. I hope this is the kind of critique you are looking for and I look forward viewing more of your posts

I really like the light on the moss covered tree (pops nicely on black) but, perhaps being a bit closer would make that tree more of a focal point?
