My son had a PICC line (peripherally inserted central catheter line) inserted about a month ago, to make the chemo infusions simpler to administer. It stops him having his hand and arm pricked with cannulas every time he needs blood tests as well as for the MRIs and scans. However, they need to be changed and checked once a week. Tomorrow it will be my turn to do this with the district nurse watching me
