Excellent low-key shot, Joan - the soft, warm candlelight sets off these pearls perfectly... and the camera settings look very much like I would have chosen for a shot like this. It's called progress!
@vignouse But the difference you would have chosen. I tried several different to see what the affect was (or is it effect always have trouble with that). I would like to spend some time this weekend studying my settings and results. Same with the pictures I am posting this weekend. But doing RAW really helps. Thanks for that.
This is lovely Joan. I too love pearls. Don't own a diamond but have several beloved pearl pieces. Wonderful lighting and reflection.i have been working with night/light shots this week (none fit for posting) It is challenging. You nailed this one.
@barbarajdonnellan Thanks for the fav. I keep playing with low-key I just like them. Don't be so conscious. If you post you might get some helpful suggestions. I have and think I am improving.
Really love the lighting on this shot and I also love the pearls as well as Pearls are my favorite.
I am also your "Get Pushed" partner for the week, I see you've done a "low key" challenge, this week I would like you to try a "high key" shot. Please let me know if you've already accomplished this and I missed the shot. Thanks and Good Luck!
@mej2011 I will have to do some more research because what I was reading today required lighting which I don't have. But if it is possible without lighting I would love to do it. I need time to give you a challenge.
@joansmor
Let me know if I need to find another challenge for you. Sunlight or a high ISO can help give the photo a "high key" look. Here is one I attempted in January and there is a lot of helpful tips on in the comments: http://365project.org/mej2011/365/2014-01-20
Take your time with issuing me a challenge, I'm not going anywhere. :)
@mej2011 Okay, I am going try this but if I fail to get it in camera I will resort to post processing which is easy peasy for me. If you accept this I accept your challenge. Know I will give it my best.
@joansmor
Absolutely! The important things are that you try to learn this new skill, but more importantly (in my opinion anyways) to have fun with the challenge!
