This building is circa 1890 and for years housed a pharmacy. Now it has a Starbucks. It is built on a triangle. This is a link with a little more info for the curious - http://www.mainememory.net/artifact/23426/
It is another inspired by @Taffy's mentor group. (Hope you guys like my tree!)
Tricky building to make appear straight and getting very aware of this thanks to everyone's help so permission given to weigh in on the subject. But mostly I want you to love this old building like I do.
Gosh where are my manners. Thank for all your wonderful comments the last few days. I am dying to get out and put your suggestions to work. Anyone looking for a housekeeping gig. LOL
@karlow75 Oh didn't mean to confuse - @vignouse is my mentor but because I mentor I am interested in this other group and using their focus for inspiration otherwise my project would be full of fall pictures. Want something different.
What a wonderful old building against that picture perfect sky! A wonderful architectural shot and I see from you link that there is another Hay building? I shall try to see this while in Portland this week.
Ah, you're enlarging your repertoire, Joan - I usually know your shots as soon as I see them... but I didn't spot this one. This is nicely done: I love the PoV and the saturated blue sky.
@vignouse I have been working to turn that down on some shots. But felt it worked with this building. I have wanted to do this for so long. But get so lazy on my lunch breaks. I always think when I don't get to do something that's a picture for next year. LOL
I like the architecture of this building with an amazing history. It is quite a kind of doll's house. Great blue sky. Here we only get one of this after a day of rain when the pollution leaves :)
Wonderful capture Joan. I really like the looks of this building. I will have to click on the link and check out more of the information about it. There should be lots of architecture in Portland for you to capture. Or even in Sanford some of those old houses are absolutely gorgeous.
It's a great architecture shot -- I'm glad you've found our little group inspiring! I love the lines and angles you created from your POV and the way you show the slight tilt to the upper floors. I bet the pharmacy there was special (my dad had a pharmacy which he ran with one employee from outside, and with my mom) -- not a drug store like today, but what we'd consider an old fashioned pharmacy and surgical supply.
