This is a knot from a Ponderosa Pine. Flagstaff is located in the world's largest Ponderosa Pine Forest- I have 19 in my yard and all the pine needles and cones they love to 'gift' me with. The trees must be at least 50 years old to produce cones and are fully mature at 150 years.
I am so very grateful for all the lovely comments- Thank YOU!
@stefneyhart Thank you, This was a older shot but one of my first with high contrast setting on my dslr. Truly appreciate the fav. @annied Thank you so much. @jerome Thank you a great deal for the fav. I did find this knot in my backyard and am glad I saved it. My husband says it truly isn't a knot but I don't care. @domenicododaro Thank you so much. @megpicatilly Thank you, the wood just looked so bland in color. @maskerade Thank you, I am studio challenged but the sewing table and lights worked. @cjphoto Thank you, one of my first attempts with the high contrast b&w setting on my camera, much easier than toning in a darkroom. PS some of us are never growing up- speaking just for myself.
@graemestevens Color tells while black and white evokes, not sure who originally said that but I like it. I guess that I need to stop being lazy and work more in mono.
@deborah63 Thank you, it was side lighting.
@annied Thank you so much.
