Dazaifu Tenmangu Shrine Requests by jyokota

Dazaifu Tenmangu Shrine Requests

At shrines, people buy little boards imprinted with an image that represents the temple. In this case, Dazaifu Tenmangu is dedicated to Tenjin, the Shinto deity of education, so people make requests for education related hopes: entrance to schools, doing well in classes, passing exams, etc. The one that is flipped over to show what has been written expresses appreciation for successful entry into a school.

Lovely to see. In France on holiday we tied a ribbon on a tree with a wish for a friend with a brain tumour. Quite a while ago and she is well........

@quietpurplehaze -- let's hope she continues to be well! Maybe time to tie a ribbon of thanks? Thanks for commenting on this and so many other photos.
