Love the wet fur and capture! I've just looked back on my "resident" koala photos from 5 years ago while looking for other photos - I so miss my koala!! fav for your capture :)
@pyrrhula she is a baby - Krissy is a back young joey around 10 months old so she is quite small :) her mum is Mist (and you can't see her but she is in the same tree here, just not in the photo frame), and she is the grandmother of the colony and totally healthy I'm very happy to report.
None of the regular colony here show any signs of Chlamydia at all.
Occasionally a koala does come onto the property with obvious symptoms (as one did about 2 months ago). I always catch them as quickly as possible and get them in to the wildlife hospital for assessment. Chlamydia is a huge problem in this area in response to the huge destruction of the forests. I am showing that if they have a good food supply, they remain healthy and breed very easily.
@pyrrhula oh very much Russian. The female will be mated by as many males and can make her accept them, she will try to fight every one of them off. The males have nothing to do with joey raising and the only time there is any contact with the female is to attempt to breed :) great questions, I always like to know my photos make people think about these creatures :)
