Life for the alpha male is not always just noise and bluff!
Jordan has had his work cut out for him with a record breaking month on the property - 18 individual koalas were spotted, 10 of these male, and 7 of the 18 were not part of the colony proper and 4 of those had never been seen before.
If that confused you, imagine the work it was for the king pin when some of those other big males obviously meant business!
His injuries look clean and he is bright, but I sure got a shock to find these scrapes, and he has a matching one on the other side.
You have seen their very long sharp incisor teeth when I can occasionally catch them in a yawn. They are powerful weapons.
I wonder if I will find another male with similar marks over the next days... I suspect the other fella won't come back into Jordan's territory as this was a serious confrontation.
The fact Jordan is on the property says he won. Those sleeping bundles are wild animals and have a hard life out there some nights!
Thank you for the awesome questions and comments on my photos.
It's tough at the top. He has held onto his position even though it meant acquiring some damage. Glad to hear that his wounds appear clean. Hopefully he heals soon.
When attitude isn’t enough you have to be willing to put in (and take) the licks, if you want to stay on top, I guess. Life’s not easy, even at the top.
@sugarmuser I know right - I've been on the lookout as that's the one that could need rescuing. Mostly they try to throw the opponent out of the tree - this looks more like they ended up wrestling on the ground.
