Jordan has such expressions! You can see the radio collar on him, and the aerial sticking out the left. It also uploads GPS data every 10 minutes round the clock.
I can't wait to find out what his data shows about his movements, time on the ground and number of road crossings.
Don't worry he pulled these faces before the collar too ;)
Thank you for the awesome questions and comments on my project.
@vignouse I forget the full details! Amy has to send me some info and I am going to write a little blog post about the project (and that will help me remember).
I will update but I think the GPS will ping every 10 minutes for about 3 months). After that they will have to use the antennae to go out and physically locate for another couple of months.
At the end of the time, the collar will auto release and drop off.
Great shot and interesting explaining.
(Are there save passages made for them passing the roads. We made wild viaducts and protections so they have to use them.)
Jordan looks as if nothing is bothering him. hope that's the case. he is so cute. I just like to know if the aerial (sticking out the way is shows here) is not hinder-sam in his movements. great picture, fav.
@bruni doesn't seem to be hindering anything at all so far. there are quite a lot of criteria that are used to be sure they are fitted correctly and the right size used so that they don't hinder them at all. then careful monitoring afterwards to again be sure all is fine with them :)
It must be fun to learn koala "secrets" this way- it looks a little odd to see a transmitter on him, but I think that's such a clever design that after it's collected the info you need it falls off! Funny face and fun shot!
Thank you for the follow, we are following in return, and looking forward to learning more about koalas.
