OK facebook followers hold back as you know the answer :) Besides 2 koalas and a butcher bird, which are not wrong, what is wrong?
I woke at 4am this morning to a screaming koala.
Little did I suspect what I would find when the sun rose! I headed towards the closest koala trees, then heard another scream and realised it was coming from my front garden!
What is wrong here is that this is a Leopard tree - not a native, a Brazilian tree! What is wrong is to see koalas in there :)
Why are there two in there you ask?
So glad you did! Because one is Cyrano (who I haven't seen for over a year), a male with an obviously large nose, and the other is Jordan, one of the alpha males. Jordan is lower down, so he is the winner who is holding a screaming Cyrano hostage.
The butcher bird seemed to be watching it all in amazement as though he knew koalas do not usually get into Leopard trees!
I am guessing this started on the ground, and Cyrano just went for the first thing he could climb, and the rest is history as they say.
If you read this far, I thank you from the bottom of my heart for being interested in my story :)
@beryl I'm guessing Cyrano took off out the front gate and Jordan waltzed in to the food trees doing a victory dance... I'm pretty sure it went something like that :)
Our resident koala often spent some days in different trees. One of her favourites was a deciduous one in summer. And I'll never forget that screeching like a pig when 2 males fight it out. great story :)
@gilbertwood thanks Denise - yep mine use other native trees besides the eucalypts, but it's the first time I've seen any in a Leopard tree :) they sure can scream!
Very interesting. Would never have thought that they would make a sound like that. I think it's amazing that you can identify them after being gone for that long.
