Must on black. I couldn't believe it when I saw two mature males at the bird bath at the same time!
It seems I have a flourishing population of regent bower birds. I was also pleased to finally get a shot showing the entire statue that stands atop my bird bath as I wanted one with the whole of 'my girl' showing.
These two boys were not staying still at all but kept changing position and taking turns at diving in so I was worried I wasn't even going to manage a capture, but I think this one is ok.
Thank you for the many lovely comments and concern you have shown during the awful time of fires here.
This is a seriously glorious bird strutting his stuff ! Must be a lovely female to have 2 males after her! Im intrigued as we don't have bower birds in my area and they are so attractive !
@fr1da they are just so stunning your eyes feel like they are playing tricks. I had 8-10 females/immatures in the bird bath one morning and caught 5 of them in this photo. So there are quite a number of them here, and if I hadn't decided to make a month project of the bird bath, I would never have had a clue! They are very shy birds so I'm thrilled to be getting these shots from my big hide (inside the house through several doors and screens!) https://365project.org/koalagardens/xtra/2019-11-12
@robz yeah I was surprised! Maybe one is quite young, I don't know! No I've never gone searching for their bowers but I know they are in the rainforest. I only move through on a track I have made, as I would hate to disturb a bower. Would be fascinating to see tho!
Oh wow, well captured. They must be telling all their pals that there is a swimming pool on your property. Just what they need when water is so short at the moment.
