Stars Over Terlingua by kvphoto

Stars Over Terlingua

The stars are brilliant... even magical in Terlingua, Texas. This was taken off the side of Indian Head Road behind the huge campground where we stayed during our visit to the Big Bend area.
Gorgeous fav for me.

Love the depth to this image with the grasses in the foreground then open land leading to the mountains, all below that star-filled sky.

Seriously -- I lived in Texas for 15 years and you are showing me more natural beauty than I ever knew was in the state I was living in!

@jyokota Wow... what a huge compliment... most appreciated. I don't know much about Texas but this area certainly has a rugged beauty.
April 26th, 2021
@kvphoto I was active in TLA, of course! But now you make me want to visit the natural beauty you keep showing us :)

@jyokota Texas had some awesome school librarians too... I remember networking with some of them... bern too many years to recap any names. You should consider attending one of Mandy’s Big Brnd workshops... they are small groups and I’ve enjoyed meeting other participants and have become friends with a few of them... nice!

@kvphoto -- I was a school librarian when I lived in Texas (actually the only kind of librarian I've been except as a trustee). I went to her website after your Milky Way photo where you linked us to her workshop, and I was wondering whether you have to have your own camping equipment and all that, or is there an option to stay in some kind of establishment since I would be traveling alone. Her photography seems very good but I'm especially impressed with what her participants (namely, you) have shown us.

@jyokota For the Big Bend workshop Mandy uses Big Bend Resorts which has a huge campground and motel rooms... for the Grand Tetons (I did this one in 2019) people stayed in motels just outside of Jackson while we camped at Gros Ventre CG. Typically people carpool and pitch in for gas money because there is usually a lot of driving to different locations. The Big Bend workshop is a short one but is jam packed with shooting opportunities. It went from Thursday afternoon thru Sunday morning.

Gorgeous fav.

@kvphoto thx for the tips! I wish I had timed going when you would be there! I'm now considering what the possibilities might be post-vaccine :)

Fabulous capture of this star filled sky. Fav

@jyokota You are most welcome... I’d love to do a workshop with you and maybe you could talk Taffy into coming too. The next one I have in mind is next April for the Smoky Mountains Waterfalls & Wildflowers workshop. It was just held recently (April 11-16th) and the photos from the workshop are amazing. I used to go the Smokies a lot when I was in my early 20s.
