Palmetto State Park in Texas had an easy hike with so many wildflowers including this one called Crow Poison also known as false garlic. Hopefully my identification is correct and info I found said it is uncertain if this wildflower is actually poisonous. Taken March 25th on our return trip home from Big Bend National Park.
Intriguing story, so I looked it up as I have not heard of it before. It is a protected species, it seems, and mildly poisonous - eating not recommended! Beautiful flower. Reminds me of an English wood anemone.
Let's not find out if it is poisonous or not :)
@jernst1779 Jean... it got the name because âCherokee legend tells that they would use this plant to make a poison that would kill the crows eating their corn.â â https://ozarkedgewildflowers.com/spring-wildflowers/false-garlic-nothoscordum-bivalve/
