In Georgia we have a plethora of trash eating buzzards. This is a black vulture who had been sitting on top of a neighbor's chimney with one of his/her buzzard buddies... perhaps a mate... not sure. When it took off over my hear the wings made the loudest sound... these birds serve a great purpose of cleaning up roadkill... I'm talking trash eaters. You can read more about the black buzzard here if so inclined: https://www.allaboutbirds.org/guide/Black_Vulture/overview
I like this picture that shows a different phase of the flight movement compared to what is more usually captured on photographs. There is a dynamism in the image because we can feel that the wings are just about to be deployed again, we can feel the next action coming. Also this posture highlights the aesthetic fan shapes created by the large feathers of the wings and it also displays the relaxed position of the paws
Great photograph
