A filler from last week as I'm worried my camera is going to die (see yesterday's post for details - if curious) so I'm going to limit its use. I live in a small city so renting or having a loaner camera is not an option. I do have my old D90 as a backup but I REALLY want my better D800 since my sister & kids are coming from Australia for 3 weeks over Christmas. We have a TON of activities planned and I want to be able to document it all. So I'm thinking I'm going to be posting older images for the next while.
It will be an excellent chance to post some of those shots that "almost" made it the first time - and we probably would have picked the first time. Think that's a good plan for saving your camera. Love the clouds in this shot hanging over the mountains.
Wonderful colors and sky in this dramatic landscape. You may want to check out https://www.borrowlenses.com. They rent gear for the short term, via mail. It might be worth it to rent a body, ship yours off for fixing, etc.
I have rented lenses from them in the past, a number of times. They are super professional and prompt. It might buy you some security over the holiday season. There are other places out there, but this is the one that I have personally experienced. Good luck!!
wonderful shot kim. oh so sorry to hear about your camera issues. i couldn't stand to be without mine for four weeks and have no backup - and i guess at some point that will happen :( spookily i dreamt last night that i had left my camera somewhere with water dripping onto it and when i looked through the viewfinder it was half full of water! do so hope that using yours less will allow you to document the holidays as you want to :)
@kwind You may be able to rent a camera body for 7-14 days and just use the lenses that you already have. It may not be that awful, in terms of price. I hope it eases your mind. :)
@rosiekerr Yes, I looked at the site and you can rent just the bodies. I have numerous lenses so that's not the problem. I'm going to do a little more research but it is definitely reassuring.

Such a dramatic looking capture.
