I walked the beach today and found quite a bit of beach glass. I decided to stack it!
I'm having photography meltdown!! I've used Aperture to edit my images for years. I feel like I've got it figured out so I thought it might be fun to expand and give Lightroom and photoshop a try. I went to download them and was told me computer needed updating. So I updated to the newest Mac software without issue. I still wanted to do a little research on the new programs before buying them so I didn't install them yet and went to back to Aperture to process my photos from today. Well.... Aperture is GONE ! I just about pooped myself!! It no longer works with the new updated mac! So I called the Mac people and they told me I should use the "photos" application. Well that's a joke! It's pretty much useless and has only the most basic of abilities (unless I'm doing something wrong - which could be the case). Tomorrow's project is going to be purchasing new software and attempting to learn it!! I'm so annoyed! I wanted to be able to learn the new stuff while still using my safe and secure old stuff. After a few hours I have managed to transfer my Aperture images over to the the new "photos" application. It's a relief that they have not gone permanently.
This is an outstanding photo. Looks fabulous on black. I'm so sorry about your computer issues. I sure with they'd (whoever they are) would stop updating things. I like my computer just the way it is. Seems like every time I get mandatory updates I wind up with issues. Hope things work out for you. I'm interested to know if you like Lightroom, if you end up purchasing it.
This is wonderful on black. Love the light on the glass pebbles and their wonderful colours. It is a great image.
I hope you can get your software issues sorted. I use Lightroom and like it.
Great light and focus. If you got Aperture from the App store you can download it again in Sierra from "purchases", that is what we are doing after experiencing the same issue with a Mac update! Aggravating! But it still runs at least and we are still using it!
Technology can cause such stress! This image is so sweet! Makes me want to head off to the beach and collect coloured glass to try the same sometime… Fav
A wonderful shot and composition. I can well imagine what you went through, as I had many issues with Adobe which still are not resolved! A pain in the butt. Hope your's will soon be back to normal.
Fabulous shot, composition and processing. Technology is so frustrating - when it works, great, but once you upgrade there always seems to be something that no longer works the same way!
Lovely! I left Aperture years ago and found LR much better. I can store my images there as well as edit. And the best thing - if I change my mind, I can revert to the original image and try again. Good luck!
Poor you - empathy and sympathy in bucket loads. I used to use Aperture and it was a tense time moving to Lightroom. But I still have my old MacPro with Aperture installed and too many photos still on it.
Oh dear this story is not very encouraging @dide and I are trying to pluck up the courage to take the plunge to full PS... we need someone to give us a push... I the mean ti.e I think your image is wonderful...
i feel your pain, kim. i love editing and processing, but there sure are related technical nightmares! i am just trying to get to grips with lightroom myself, having come to love photoshop elements. i need to upgrade my mac but am reluctant as i might lose my nik plug-ins, which i also love. i still use photos for OS X to store my images, and take them into ps and/or lightroom to faff about ... but i should probably take the plunge and store in lightroom if i can face it :)
This is wonderful. A friend showed LR to me a couple of weeks ago, it's pretty cool! There is so much more to photography than just taking the picture!
I love to collect beach glass - this makes a great image. I know 'didly squit' about computers but I do know, as others have said, once they do some 'updating', nothing is ever the same!! fav
A very nice shot. I use Lightroom, and am still finding out stuff after 4-5 years of use. However, you can get going with it fairly quickly. I'm a fan.
Now all of that techy stuff sounds troublesome. Im dreading the day when similar happens to me. I shall be inconsolable when I loose my photoshop because of an upgrade but am sure it will happen.
meanwhile your pile of rocks is very pretty and calming.
Superb photo... and I'm sorry about your troubles lol "I just about pooped myself"!!! :D I completely understand though. I've used a free little program (Photofiltre) but feel like I need to graduate to something that will eventually allow me to do more. But as you mentioned in your flower post (10th August), it's such a huge learning curve...
I hope you can get your software issues sorted. I use Lightroom and like it.
I feel for you with the technical issues, so annoying!
