I dragged the tripod to this remote beach so I could get a group shot of myself, husband and parents. It was our first time at San Josef Bay on Northern Vancouver Island (see yesterday's shot for a beach view). We went at low tide so we could wander around the Sea Stacks you see in the background.
Gorgeous setting and great comp. Last week we visited a bunch of waterfalls but I was not feeling dragging a tripod. It would be nice to have a foldable backpack model.
@alophoto I have a good solid tripod and then a lightweight travelling one. I usually take it on my trips but NEVER use it so I've stopped bothering. But this trip I took it along only to get there and have the remote shutter not work so I had to set it and run into the scene!
@kwind Oh man...dang it. I did see so many people with their tripods, but I was grateful not to have to drag along mine. I should get a lighter weight travel one!
So green and beautiful. What a unique place this looks to be. Well done on the group shot. Well worth the effort and a great momento from the trip. I keep wondering how your son is - he doesn't appear to have been on your recent trips? I do hope all is well.
@helenhall Gage is great! Thanks for asking. He's not much into joining us for our adventures - 15 year boy attitude! Haha. He's gained 30 pounds and feeling great! He's been with his cousins this past week camping at a lake in the interior - waterskiing and tubing. We all have our lives back and it's a wonderful feeling!!
Well worth dragging the tripod along to get this family photo.
Good to read that Gage is doing so well too, you must be so relieved to see him fit and well again.
