In Scotland, we call that a carl-doddie! We used to play with them as kids. Lovely shot and beautiful light. For interest, this is a copy of part of the entry in the Scottish dictionary : L.Bnff. 1876 (per Mry.2):
“Carl-doddies” were frequently used by children in mock duels, the object being to see who could first knock off the head of the opponent's weapon. The traditional explanation of the name is that it refers to the Jacobite-Hanoverian struggle, ‘Carl-Doddie' being literally translateable as ‘Charlie-Georgie'”(Abd.16 1938).] There you go!
I can't remember what they are called but like Issi @jamibann I used to play with them too when I was a child. We used to loop the stem around the head of the weed and then see how far we could flirt it
Lovely capture! I believe that's buckhorn plantain or a variety of plantain. It has medicinal qualities! I spend a lot of time researching the plants I know nothing about when I find them growing in my yards. I will mow around the special ones. LOL!
Great capture.. Interesting to read @onewing comments.. Rats Tail here in NZ.. we played the same game as Babs.. Shoot your brother with the 'Rats tail' usually at the bus stop.. thanks for the memory..
