The building dates back to about 1702 and was also known as Woodchester Teasel Tower. There are several theories for what it was built for, drying wool after dying, drying teasels used in the woollen industries or for a sulphur stove. This bleaching the wool after it was washed to get rid of the yellow colour.
@thresheg I love the countryside particularly this area I live in, (Stroud Valleys) unfortunately most people pass without looking at what is out there.
