Curtains

Probable not the best subject to capture but I just love the stonemason's work on this 1762 gravestone. Now you might interpret the curtains on the front in a few ways.

Today we might say this person has had his curtains whilst you may say that his life is being drawn behind these curtains. Whichever, you can't take anything away from the master craftsman that produced it all those years ago.

It really is remarkable skill and detail here....I must confess to enjoying poking around old church yards as well!

Indeed, that is masterful stonemason't work, Heather. Fascinating to ponder the significance and meaning of this artistic creation. Seems I have seen something like this before, but never really thought about it until you posted this. Something to think about, for sure.

I often wander around church yards, the older gravestones are so interesting and so ornate; such skill by the stonemasons. This is a lovely shot of a great tomb, dare say there Is a whole family together in there.
