Upstairs, Downstairs. by ladymagpie

Upstairs, Downstairs.

I expect many of you have watch the TV drama called upstairs, downstairs. Well it's a story of the life of a very rich family and all the staff that look after them from downstairs, the cooks, the butlers and servant's etc.

Just along the road from my home is Stanley Park that has a large mansion and a separate servants building. This is at the rear of the servant entrance which also shows the coach houses and davits where the carriages could be loaded. A single entry door below the clock tower, so that servants were not late. (Now turned into rented flats). Pity about the modern cars.

Wonderful lines in this architecture. Bet it is just as fascinating inside as it is from the outside. What a unique place to live.
