High on the hill above the Stroud Valleys there are many lovely woods for walking. This is in Ranwick woods and an aptly named "Robbers Road".
You can walk for a couple of miles on this road and I can well imagine in olden days highwaymen and robbers in the trees just waiting for you to pass. In the 70's I was involved with rally driving and used this tract through the woods to practice the speed driving on rough tracks. Both ends these days are blocked off, leaving it just for walkers and horse riders.

@snowy Thanks Diana, I tell you a little story. I had a little mini which we rallied, unfortunately it leaked like a sieve and the insde wells used to fill up with water. In fact we were going to Weston-S-Mare in a storm and I noticed the children floating boats in the back seat. I had punch holes all over the floor to let the water out and one day driving hard along Robbers Road I hit a large mud puddle and mud jets shot up through the holes and splattered my face, the children were amused.
@ladymagpie You have the most interesting stories, but you have fooled me many times with your fables...so now I'm not sure I believe you. lol Beautiful path. You were involved in rally driving too?? You have certainly let am interesting life!
