Standish Court by ladymagpie

Standish Court

This is the ruins of the main gateway into Standish Court, and just to the right of the church spire I gave you the other day. It's still in use and displayed the private sign that I just didn't see (cough).

Standish Court was also built by the Abbot of Gloucester in the 1300's and was altered in the 16th & 17th centuries.

I would like to give a mention to Captain Robert Nairac GC, who was abducted by the IRA in Northen Ireland whilst on a special duties in 1974. He was killed but his body has never been found and he was awarded the George Cross in 1979, This was his home at the time.
