I don't know why but every time I pass the sign it leaves me with a broad smile and naughty thoughts. Cockadilly is a very small hamlet on a busy road on the hillside above my home.
Small is an ever statement as it consist of about 9 or 10 houses on just one side of the road with this sign, and the one at the other end of the hamlet, being only about 400 yards apart. There are no pavements just a rough grass verge, hence the warning of pedestrians on the road.
Now the name, who ever came up with that and why, I must find out. Mind you I have silly thoughts of the word HAMLET as well, is this a shortened description of a ham omelettes. Also why did William Shakespeare name a play "Hamlet", it didn't have any small cluster of houses in it.
I should concentrate on my driving and not worry about the strange named places where people make ham omelettes whilst reading Shakespeare.
Lovely village. My own favourite village is Muff in Ireland I have visited it many times the sign is probably one of the most tampered with in the world. So say the diving club is very popular :)
