A Giants Nose Pick by ladymagpie

A Giants Nose Pick

When I took this picture I was in a hurry and didn't read the plaque that you can see in front of this monument. Therefore it is me that gave the title of The Giants Nose Pick. Now saying that I have since contacted a 365 friend (ROBIN PHOTOMAN) who I knew lived near and I can now tell you what it is.

Next to these gardens in the City of Gloucester lies St. John the Baptist's Church and this is actually the tip of the spire. It was removed and placed in this park in 1910, I can only think it was in a dangerous condition and the church was being renovated. The spire and tower dates from the 14th century, but the remainder of the church dates from 1732.

So as you can see, no giants were harmed or upset in the taking of this picture, although it does seem a strange thing to put in a city center park, a monument not to be sniff at.

Thank you for you comments and FAV's for yesterdays pair of whippets.

I thought it might be a termite hill Heather, glad it hasn't any creepy crawly inhabitants! A great idea to place this old & interesting spire where all can see & feel.

Well it could be a giant's toothpick, too? How odd - you would need the description!

Love the nose pick - may I borrow it? One query - it looks like autumn there - have you relocated England??

What a great way to preserve the spire - and I'm sure any passing giants could just borrow it if the need arose and then put it back again.
