A visit to a small village church and I was very surprised to see this beautiful large tomb inside, You're more likely to find these in cathedrals or abbeys. I had a job to get a good capture as there was a bench in front of it, fortunately I have been able to use a clone programme to remove it.
I decided to research the owner of this tomb and that of his wife that lies beside him. It turns out to be one of the past Lords of the Manor who was Edward Stephens and his wife Joan, they both unfortunately died in the same year of 1587, and lived in the nearby Manor that had only just been built in the same year.
It certainly doesn't look that comfortable to be laid on for 429 years, I prefer my memory foam mattress but even that can get uncomfortable. Thanks for all your comments and FAV's for the ducks yesterday, I think she had told the mallards to go away as she had a headache.
@gooner46 Wow and there was me thinking they covered his body in concrete and placed him on the plinth Chris (Wink,Wink) You must remember to take anything I say with a pinch of salt.
Eastington Manor - fascinating piece of history as @jaffacakes Julie, says! I guess 16 children were just too much! And here is me thinking the bodies were dipped in plaster and put on the tomb!
