It's the End, well almost

No not the end of the world. or even the end of Lady Magpies photographs, but it's the end of the old canal for the time being as the next 2 miles has been filled in and lost into open fields.

Out geocaching again and this part of the canal is beautiful. You can just make out a lock in the distance. It is hoped that the canal will be dug out again in the next few years as my football club looks to move to the adjoining fields for a new stadium and sports complex. Our Chairman has offered to reinstate part of the missing 2 miles at the same time as building the new complex.

In the meantime I will continue to enjoy the beauty of this wonderful place, view it with the dark surround.

Thank you for all your comments and FAVs.

Old canals and old railroads, something sad about their passing. One hopes that they can be revived.

If it's opened up again it would be good if it joined on to another bit. Big job though digging it out again. Very pretty now but it will be worse before it's better then!!

That seems like pointless desecration! Filling in the canal! Not when it is so beautiful as seen here!

I sure the two rivers, Old Father Thames and the Mighty Severn will be linked again, but amongst other things though it will mean the loss of these the lovey bits of solitude....fav

@onewing Babs I think you have the wrong end of the stick here. It's not being filled in but behind me are 2 miles that has been filled in and will be opened up again.
