I imagine most people have heard of Florence Nightingale, who was the founder of Modern Nursing. It was in 1851 that she and other nurses went off to the Crimean War to look after the injured and dying soldiers. She would walk among the beds at night carry a lamp and hence she became know as The Lady with the Lamp when her story was told in the papers.
Yesterday I had to go to the beautiful Regency town of Cheltenham Spa to take my Brother-in-Law to hospital, unfortunately he had to stay in but again he was being looked after by some very caring nurses, following in Florence Nightingales historic footsteps.
I planned a stop whilst in Cheltenham to find a geocache and it was at this location I found this beautiful, and unusual street lamp. Made of ceramics with pretty tiling around the outside, although it was raining I decided it was worth a capture.
View with the dark surround, and you'll see that I'm now The Lady of the Lamp.
