Last Sunday was the a celebration of the end of WW1 after 100 years. Also the remembrance of all those who gave their lives in wars that have given us the freedom we all have today.
Most villages and towns have their own war memorials and this is the one of my own village of King's Stanley in the Stroud Valleys. The whole village had been decorated in poppies, but I particularly likes they way the memorial had been decorated and everyone gathered on the Sunday morning for a service and remembered the village people that never came home.
Around the memorial were pairs of shoes, each labelled with the name of a lost one. The pair in the bottom corner of the picture remembers, "Corporal Kenneth Christopher Gleede, No. 73388.
