Just received a new addition to my Doulton Lambeth collection with this large water jug with a hallmark silver lid. It dates from 1892 with the silver being supplied by the Birmingham Silversmith Edward Moses Levetus.
Must admit to loving this jug with monks drinking on the pictures around the outside, lets add a well known song to go along with it, slightly altered from little jug to big jug.
Ha, ha, ha, you and me
Big brown jug, don't I love thee
Ha, ha, ha, you and me
Big brown jug, don't I love thee
When I go toiling on the farm
I take the big jug under my arm
Place it under a shady tree
Big brown jug, 'tis you and me
'Tis you that makes me friends and foes
'Tis you that makes me wear old clothes
But, seeing you're so near my nose
Tip her up and down she goes
I think that might be beer in the song, so sing along folks.
