Well the weather has turned and it was raining all day yesterday, not having a special umbrella for my camera I decided it was a day of staying home, well also England was playing football later and I had to prepare myself for that.
Making myself comfortable on the settee I had raised the blinds on my front porchory, (that's a large porch or a small conservatory) and watch the birds on my feeders again.
We had the usual sparrows that live in the eves of the cottages over the road, starlings that drive me mad if it's a flock, and the pigeons walking around on the ground. Crows and jackdaws having given up as they can't hang onto the various cages. I'm not that rotten to them as I have a table in a different area where I do spread some food for them.
Now for the finches who love the sun hearts, there are greenfinches and of course the goldfinches, they are so pretty and I'm sure they know it. As per my capture, they raise their heads up and look around as if to say "Who's a pretty boy then".
There you have it a leisurely rest on my settee with camera in hand, waiting for the unusual visitors. Woody Woodpecker popped in a couple of times and the odd robin and blue tits appear, but it's a continue beauty of goldfinches that stays around the most of the day.
I remember the first time I saw a goldfinch in our garden when we first got married. I looked it up in my trusty bird book and it said they live in weedy waste places. It sure felt at home in our garden. ha ha.
