It's hunting season here. The mountains are full of large game, and every village has its hunting association, the Chasse. Ours keep their dogs in a kennel on the village outskirts. You've never seen such a collection of mutts, but they are well cared for. They are only allowed to hunt on Wednesday and Saturday mornings. The dogs drive the animals, wild boar and deer, to the guns. I keep well clear of them when they are out, because they (French hunters in general) have a reputation for shooting anything that moves - dogs, people, each other, themselves! Here they do place signs and guards around the area where they are hunting. I talked to one a few weeks ago and he told me that this club killed about 150 wild boar and 30 roe deer last season.
