The section of the EV8 between the next villages west of Laroque, Villelongue-dels-Monts and Montesquieu, has essentially been completed. The only thing left for them to do is remove the 'no access' signs. As a newly naturalized French citizen, I'm pretty sure I'm obliged to ignore such instructions. Jasper, French-born and no slave to authority, had already treated the pole on which the sign is mounted with the disdain it deserves. So today this was our morning walk.
The EV8, the Eurovélo 8, is a long-distance cycle path that links Athens, Greece with Cadiz, on the Atlantic coast of Spain, passing along the Adriatic coast, crossing Italy, then passing along the Mediterranean coast. I showed last January the part to the east of Laroque, recently completed. So now the only part of the whole 7600 km that remains to be built is that which connects Laroque to Villelongue.

Lovely. It's a super shot - and I love the commentary as well as Jasper's attitude! The cycle route sounds intriguing and more than a little interesting!
That is a fantastic cycling path! What a pleasure to be able to plan something like this, but take it leisurely, stop here and there, then continue. Excellent idea!
I remember my French friends my years ago telling me about French signs and how the populace did the opposite. So I put up a sign in my office “Défense de rire!” I laughed anyway.
