Also known as Mt Oriel Homestead....but it is mostly known (especially by locals), as Iandra Castle.
Today they had an open day, so after living here for 22+ years, and having driven past it a gazillion times, I finally got to visit and see inside. It is simply amazing....and has been beautifully restored (which is an ongoing project, funded by open days like today). It was built by a Mr George Green, who owned the property and who was the farmer who introduced share farming to Australia.... he commenced building in 1880 as a single story homestead from bricks he made & fired on his property, Mt Oriel. In 1908 he commenced the conversion of his single story brick homestead to a 2 storey reinforced concrete building, which has features which gives it it's common name of a castle.
I took a shot back in August of the little church at Mt Oriel, also built by Mr Green, called St Saviour's, and you can see that shot here - http://365project.org/leggzy/365/2016-08-21
All in all, a great day out to see this local iconic building :)
