Oddfellows Hall by leggzy

Oddfellows Hall

I have to admit, I had no idea what an Oddfellow was and had to google to find out.

The Independent Order of Oddfellows is a religiously & politically independent fraternal order of Oddfellows that was founded in 1819 in America. By the late 19th century, the order had spread to most of the rest of the world, including Australia.

The IOOF aims :

* To improve and elevate the character of mankind by promoting the principles of friendship, love, truth, faith, hope, charity and universal justice.

* To help make the world a better place to live by aiding each other in times of need and by organizing charitable projects and activities that would benefit the less fortunate, the youth, the elderly, the environment and the community in every way possible.

* To promote good will and harmony amongst peoples and nations through the principle of universal fraternity, holding the belief that all men and women regardless of race, nationality, religion, social status, gender, rank and station are brothers and sisters.

* To promote a wholesome fraternal experience without violence, vices and discrimination of every form.

So there ya go....I've learnt something new. A bit of a shame that a lot of the world no longer has these views/goals.

I think the hall has now been converted into a home, from what I could gather being there today.
What a neat looking hall.. you certainly done your research... that is what I like about 365 is that we learn things in areas that we would otherwise not know about..

Interesting architecture and info. Their mission statement is pure, our world would be a much better place to live in if these standards were followed :)

I love the principles, it would be so good if the whole world joined this society. I wonder if it is still functioning in some areas.
