The silos were painted in April and May 2018 by artist Guido Van Helten, and are on the site of the old Portland Cement Works.
The individuals represented in the artwork are all former employees who shared their recollections of working at the Portland Cement Works and how their lives have been impacted by the industry in their town.
These ones are beautiful and you have captured them so well. Have you seen the book 'Silo Art: Australia's outdoor art revolution' produced by Australian Geographic. I bought it because so many of the silos were difficult to photograph and they are represented so well in this book
Beautiful. I do love Guido Van Helten's work. He did an amazing street art for the Hit the Bricks event in Newcastle a few years ago but a couple of weeks later the owner of the building painted over it with black paint. I couldn't believe it.
I took the blob out of your beautiful photo of your Dad and posted it in the discuss section for you to see, I hope you don't mind ;-)

That is crazy to paint over what would have been amazing artwork!
You’ve got to be kidding!!! I hope there was an uproar!
