In the haste to get away from the Curlew's nest in my other post for today I nearly knocked into the strainer post containing this Oystercatcher nest. Here too the adult bird quickly returned to the nest and on my return home I found out I can with binoculars see the bird sitting on the nest.
That's an unusual place for Oystercatchers to nest, they are ground nesters really. Though they do choose some silly nest sites at times. Many times I've seen them sitting in the stone drainage channels, right next to the thundering traffic of busy A roads.
