"If the bee disappeared off the face of the Earth, man would only have four years left to live." Albert Einstein

Einstein may or may not have said that. The importance of bees cannot be discounted though, their pollination of crops is invaluable and when I walked by this shrub today it was alive with bees. When they are all drinking pollen they can be a noisy bunch. Smile.
Fabulous bee capture, Lou Ann! The bees are so active right now...I suppose that's why I've been obsessed with bee photos lately. Fav! :-)

Great shot. It is worrisome when the need start disappearing.

I have a soft spot for bees and it is very sad that they are on the endangered species list. Apparently in San Francisco some of the hotels have installed bee hives on their roof tops and the bee population as these hives has grown from 10,000 to 80,000.

@gaylewood It was amazing how many bees were swarming that fragrant shrub! @henrir @nicolecampbell Seeing all the bees on 365 and today on that shrub I think the bees are alive and well.

I see I must have swung by late in the evening when I didn't have time to comment! I so totally and fully agree with Einstein's assessment!! And who wants to disagree with Einstein?! My bees seem less plentiful than in years past, but I cheer on every one, inviting them to drink deep and enjoy the blossoms! If next year's crop grows and thrives, they've accomplished their mission!

@bkbinthecity Thank you, kind sir! @happysnaps We really watch for bees and are so glad to see they are doing better every year. @Weezilou We sure are glad the bees are recovering from their low numbers from a few years ago. I see them everywhere now, thank goodness!
