There are no words

We have a new development (Riverwalk) being built a couple miles away. For some reason the developers had this "?" installed at the entrance to the new walking trails at Riverwalk. All I could think of was a small child walking the trails with his/her parents for the first time, then trying to go to sleep that night. If beauty is in the eye of the beholder, I really want to meet that beholder!
Perhaps it is meant to be a Venus fly trap, we have some awful street art around here

I have to agree with your sentiment. One can only wonder ,"Why?"

so sharp and pointy ... not very appealing to me!

Oh so bizarre! Has the developer advised what it is actually and the meaning behind it?

How strange, maybe the sculptor needs to go back on the medication, ha ha.

Oh dear 😨
Any way it can be involved in an accident that oh so sadly destroys it?

Oh my. And they probably paid a fortune for this. It looks mean and dsngerous.

I agree with your title:There really are no words...

@nicolecampbell @ubobohobo @lynnz @gigiflower @onewing @annied @henrir @gijsje @mittens Thank you! Nice to see so many like-minded folks! I researched it and found out way more than I wanted to -city bureaucracy - you know that drill. Anyway, it is called "Indian Blanket" after a Texas Wildflower. I have lived in Texas all my life and have not seen an Indian Blanket. I've seen Indian Paintbrush wildflowers... enough said! Smile.

Intriguing sculpture -

Very strange looking sculpture. Not one I would want on our river walk.

Oh ... hmmm ... nope ... don't think it marries with the scenery ... perhaps in different lighting ... but lovely colours for your image :)

Unfortunately, you probably got an accurate shot of this sculpture - loved reading the comments - now where's a good wind storm when you need one!

Ok, well, hmmmm... my mother always said, "If you don't have anything nice to say..."

Sorry I can't say anything positive either....We have some "?" here too...great capture .

Why

Not by any stretch of the imagination am I conferring a "like" on this dreadful sculpture, but here is the germination of the artist's "excuse" for his work http://www.edenbrothers.com/store/indian_blanket_seeds.html?gclid=Cj0KEQjw6LXIBRCUqIjXmdKBxZUBEiQA_f50PiNg5lXu6HUp9Z9hSBjTGqWmTgnOx2ctSaW8nlP6b5oaAsA48P8HAQ

I recall class art projects were drawing lines within boxes might denote emotions. Here I see "visceral anger", "rage", and "Aggression"...nothing flowery about it! That flower could have been stylized in a lovely, much gentler way. If this is a part of a new housing development, I can't imagine anyone will feel welcomed there...

...but that's just my take on it!...

@Weezilou Thank you for the link to what an Indian Blanket really is. The soft pointed yellow ends of the petals in no way resemble this artist's rendition. Several comments on the city website liken this sculpture to a bag of McDonald's french fries! Others said they considered living in the new development till they saw this bizarre "art"!

@ziggy77 @littleconnie @alijchapman @milaniet @olivetreeann @happysnaps @bkbinthecity Thank you all for your comments and observations, one day soon I will walk the trail there to see if any more of the artist's flowers have been "planted". I am especially anxious to see what he does to our beloved State Wildflower the Bluebonnet!
