There's the Bull Thistle, there's the Texas Thistle.....there's me falling down the "Official Wildflower Identification Wormhole"!
As often happens, the official name of a wildflower can be hard to find. This Thistle was growing beneath a barbed wire fence in the Hill Country and I have decided to call it a Texas Thistle, if for no other reason than that it is growing in Texas. Smile. There are so many thistles, all over the world evidently, that it's just not possible to say which thistle this one is!
What a beauty this is! I think the thistle is a symbol of Scotland, but there's is probably another sort altogether if there are so many to choose from! I just call this one mighty pretty!
