Day two of our road trip took us through Nebraska. Farmland as far as the eye could see, then the Sandhills appeared. It's an area of mixed-grass prairie on stabilized sand dunes, that covers one quarter of the state. The land was long considered irreclaimable desert because it was unsuitable for crops. In the 1870's cattlemen began to discover its potential as rangeland for Longhorn cattle. It is now productive cattle ranching land with over a half million cattle grazing its grasses. This is another 70 mph photo, smile.
