A Magnolia fruit by louannwarren

A Magnolia fruit

Our Magnolia tree is loaded with these, as they ripen, they open and the tree seeds pop out. It is a long (several years) process to grow these trees from seeds. Most people buy youn trees at the nursery. If they grew easily from their seeds, I would have a forest of them in my front yard. It’s like a small war when these start falling from the tree, you don’t want to be under the tree in a windstorm! This for Aug18words macro today.
Great close up, very beautiful.

Nice macro! Our climate is a little too chilly for Magnolias although I think there is one hardier kind that will grow up here. I love the fragrance of them.

I haven't got a magnolia tree in our garden so only really notice them as they start to flower in early spring. Never seen the seed pods so I have learnt something today.

Our magnolia doesn't have these - must be a different breed! These seed pods look a bit like a bomb!

I’ll take a photo of a fruit when it opens and the seeds start to fall, it is an interesting life cycle for the seed pods, for sure.
