Our Magnolia tree is loaded with these, as they ripen, they open and the tree seeds pop out. It is a long (several years) process to grow these trees from seeds. Most people buy youn trees at the nursery. If they grew easily from their seeds, I would have a forest of them in my front yard. It’s like a small war when these start falling from the tree, you don’t want to be under the tree in a windstorm! This for Aug18words macro today.
Nice macro! Our climate is a little too chilly for Magnolias although I think there is one hardier kind that will grow up here. I love the fragrance of them.
I haven't got a magnolia tree in our garden so only really notice them as they start to flower in early spring. Never seen the seed pods so I have learnt something today.
