In Waurika, Oklahoma, the site of the car show Saturday, there were quite a few vacant buildings. For no apparent reason, this vacant storefront had this mannequin and artwork in it. Maybe in its past life this space was a dress shop, it was a pretty forlorn looking window to me.
the mannequin sure has a forlorn look. as someone said, it's better than an empty display or worse boarded up windows which would give vandals a reason to defile it.
Help us please, we are incarcerated in this miserable building! We want out & into a posh clothes shop with proper customers that might by the clothes we have on!!
That's so interesting that the window is all decorated as if there's a store in there when there isn't. It has somewhat of a haunting feeling although with polka dot you'd think it'd be happier. Good catch!
@radiogirl@mave@mittens@365karly1@pcoulson@carolmw@ludwigsdiana@beryl@lynnz@lynnz@summerfield@happypat@henrir@joemuli@claudiet@olivetreeann Thank you so much for stopping by. Waurika had a mobile home manufacturing plant, the biggest employer in the town. Then 10 - 15 years ago the plant moved to Mexico (cheap labor) and it decimated the town’s economy. Cattle ranching was and is still important in the area but doesn’t generate the income the town needs to survive. There are so many great old buildings just sitting vacant in town. This one store window seemed so forlorn to me, like a hope for better times and a nod to times that never will be again.
