Austin’s Home Slice Pizza has the only known neon sign with a female pizza chef. The “Queen of Pies” character is based on the restaurant’s brain child and Co-owner Jen Strickland. The pig-tailed Queen wears a mustache because, well, all pizza chefs have them. @stray_shooter says Home Slice is his favorite pizza. 😊 Neon cowboy artist Evan Voyle’s made the sign in 2010, it’s on a 1947 dry cleaner’s pole, the original site of Home Slice. The sign is 7 feet tall, the Queen winks and the pepperoni lights up when the pizza is complete. I had to work this legendary neon sign into my calendar. For my last yellow for the rainbow.
