The Weeping Blue Atlas Cedar

I loved the curvy trunk and “weeping” limbs on the blue cedars, there’s a long row of them close to the Arboretum entrance.

@grammyn I think the trunks naturally grow that way. Several years ago the Cedars were young and their trunks were curvy then.

@grammyn I Googled the Blue Cedar, it has “pendant branchlets” you train its shape as it grows. Height at maturity is 10 feet and width can be 20 feet. So they don’t grow curvy naturally!

@louannwarren l also googled but didn't do a thourough search and thought just the opposite of what you found so...........deeper research!

It’s an interesting tree, I’ve been reading about it as Katy and I have discussed its unusual trunk, you can buy one for $30 to $300 depending on how much effort has been put into it’s shape prior to purchase. 😊
