After the cactus flowers fall off, the pears are ready to pick. They are used for many food and juice items. We are going to Santa Fe next month and one of their restaurant’s advertised cocktails is “Prickly Pear Margarita”. I just may have to try it, ha! This for Diana @ludwigsdiana, do our pears look like yours? 😊
Thanks Lou Ann, lovely shot and great colours! Ours look a bit shorter, fatter and are sort of orange. I will post one for you tomorrow. That margarita sounds divine, wish they would make them here ;-)
Nice picture! When we lived in Mexico I learned how to make a drink out of it. We call them "tuna". Peel, blend, sieve, add water, lime juice and sugar. I would say the taste is something in between cucumber and sweet watermelon.
Mixing it with some tequila would make a wonderful margarita! Enjoy!
