Lori’s granddaughter is visiting from Cyprus and she has named the men on the garbage trucks the trash canners. Evidently if you throw away a teddy bear on our route it gets to ride on the side of the truck. I just loved this idea.
So glad they have been saved from the crusher. Our garbos attach teddy bears etc to the front of their truck too. They are just softies at heart aren't they
I'm with Ron on this one, I cannot imagine throwing one away. giving it away is a different story. The idea would be great if they take it to a children's home or hospital.
Well spotted Lou Ann lovely detail colours and capture, these we call bin men and ladies, they always seem happy in thier work smile and say good morning:)
i echo katy's @grammyn sentiment - who would throw away a teddy bear?!?!?!?!
in toronto, the garbage people as the locals call them, seem to be an unfriendly lot, especially the ones employed by the city. i once asked my friend who worked at the city hall if it's a union thing for them to be so surly. however, one beautiful spring day, my garbage was being picked up as i was coming out of the house where i lived at the time. i smiled at the garbage man and i said good morning and thanked him for doing this dirty work. he smiled back and said, if most people would just greet them like they're normal people, their work would be a lot easier. and then there i was chatting with the garbage men in my suit and high heels and the smell of garbage around me. i also give them a "nice" Christmas present. since then, whenever those guys pass by my street, they would give me a 'salute' whenever they see me.
What an interesting photo but my heart feels so sorry for all the teddies chucked out on the dustbin as we call them....people have no feelings! I’m sure they go to good homes but it’s quite sad to see.
I'm so glad they've been saved from the garbage dump- at least for a while. The sad thing is you can't give them away to places like the Salvation Army or Good Will anymore since they can't be sanitized (and that's before the pandemic). If you know someone in a Day Care you might be able to get away with it- or you might be able to give them to a neighbor if they trust you but poor Teddys- if a child doesn't want them they're in a fix! Great catch!
I like that!
I love my "trash canners" They are friendly and do me a great favor every week! Terrific shot of this one!
