Our niece in Montana wanted a big dog to protect her while her husband is out of town at his job each week. She found this sweet German Shepherd pup. You can’t tell how big his feet are, he is going to fit the bill of “big dog” very soon. He was so easy going I’m not sure he will make a good guard dog, time will tell!
He is cute!
You might remember our dog Rango. He would not harm a fly, but many people were afraid of him due to his size. He was a boxer, but not even a big one.
I have known big dogs who have the appearance of being friendly or soft UNTIL something seems to threaten their person and boom- the snarling and attack mode kick in. Dogs can be trained to respond to a danger word too- if they hear it, they'll immediately go into protect mode. So it will really be up to your niece and how she trains Koda to watch out for her. He sure looks sweet!
Not to worry. one of my grandsons got a cute German Sheppard puppy years ago and now he's full grown gorgeous dog. he's very protective of his family. it's the one with the new born preemie baby.
Fav! People just tend to steer clear of German Shepherds, regardless of if they are really a big teddy bear. My dog, Rommel, was big and people would cross the street to be away from me when I took him on a walk! HaHa! My son is getting a German Shepherd pup the middle of July when it is 12 weeks old. I will be sure to post a photo or two. :)
