Jerry’s mother Dorothy served in the California State Guard during WW II. Jerry was two years old, he said he never knew what she did in the Guard. I’ve always loved this photo of her, she passed away just 10 months after we married in 2000. She moved her family from California to Montana after the war and owned restaurants everywhere they lived.
FAV I love this pose and their history behind this remarkable woman. I only found out that my mother sewed on gun turret coverings during the war right before she passed away. I agree with @summerfield
What a shame you never got chance to hear about her interesting life. I expect if she had lived longer you would have been sure to ask her….us women like to know such things! Lovely photo of her in her uniform!
@gilbertwood@happysnaps@pcoulson@kwind@olivetreeann@maggiemae thank you so much for commenting and faveing . From just my one visit to Montana to meet Dorothy I knew she was a wonderful, strong (even tough) woman. I’m so glad I met her, would have loved seeing her again.
the women during those times are a different breed and today's generation do not compare.
