Corn sculpture

The American Indians have treasured corn through the ages. They hold corn ceremonies every year thanking their “corn god” for a good harvest. To this day corn tortillas are a staple of their diet. This sculpture was on the grounds of the New Mexico Museum of Art in Santa Fe.
Lovely shot of this beautiful sculpture. I love corn, especially corn tortillas and could not get my fill when we were in Mexico years ago. I even bought a tortilla press and made them as we could not buy them, neither in Germany nor Japan.

@ludwigsdiana I prefer them over flour tortillas, and the corn ones are better for us!

Sante Fe is so artistic- I remember walking around with a friend and admiring all the art pieces in people's yards. We didn't have a lot of time so I didn't get to the museum but your pictures are bringing back some good memories of its beauty. Nice shot!

Beautiful shot and warm colours. So many different cultures around the world. And they are all worth preserving and encouraging to grow.

@taffy ahhh I’m glad to know her official title is Corn Maiden. As much as I’ve traveled in the Southwest, I have never seen her.
